Singing while being accompanied only by guitar and bass, the venture could seem risky, but the singer Jeni Fleming attempts it, and the result is very satisfying. It must be said that she possesses an ethereal, floating voice with celtic tones, and she knows how to use it. She chose standards ("Round Midnight", "Black Coffee", "Over the Rainbow", "Amazing Grace") and strongly poetic and very melodious compositions of Bill Fleming which she treats with different styles, from the Texan blues ("Black Coffee") to the Irish ballad, like the medley she did "He Looked Beyond My Faults" and "Danny Boy", or to westcoast jazz ("Round Midnight"). Chad Langford on bass ("All or Nothing at All") brings a solid framework to these very beautiful melodies that, without it, would risk not showing their beauty and would lack energy. Swing is always present ("Amazing Grace"), even in the slow parts, coming from the voice of Jeni Fleming, as well as that of Jake Fleming who sings from time to time in duo with her. The whole CD is a rare elegance and reveals a great sensitivity and a beautiful musicality ("Over the Rainbow").
