I think talking about music is a little silly,
rather like dancing about architecture (I once heard it put). I
will say, however, that my connection with this album was a fun
experience, which I attribute to the 5 original tunes. The opportunity
to present my voice without comparison to whomever last performed
the song was a challenge. Surprisingly, I enjoy listening to the
outcome. I hope you do too. - Jeni
Reaching the end of a project like this begs an
answer to the question, “What next?” This is what I
found myself asking in November of 2003 upon completing Things
I Meant To Say. After traveling once around the sun, that question
is answered by this recording, which I feel is better than anything
we’ve done so far. Here I stand with my wife and friend twelve
months later in my life, lost in the words and breaking the chains.
Some may live a lush life, and while I’m homeward bound and
before they send in the clowns, I ask again, “What next?"

What to say about this Once Around The Sun?
Rehearsing and recording the music for this, our third effort, has
been inspiring in so many ways. Continuing to explore the
jazz and folk canons with songs like "Lush Life" and "Homeward
Bound," Jake's wonderful new compositions, and stretching out
my recording engineer's wings to faithfully capture Jeni's amazing
vocal artistry and all the rest of it; it's been an unforgettable
experience. I hope you enjoy listening to the music as much
as we've enjoyed creating it. -Chad |
